People love to laugh and the stats prove it. Videos that display humor are shared much more online than serious ones. But this doesn’t just apply to the personal videos that people share of their kids taking the latest weird challenge (remember the cinnamon challenge), but this also applies to whiteboard animations and business videos.
Companies have come to realize that customers want to be engaged, not just talked to, and this has made one heck of a playing field. Whiteboard animated videos are popping up all over the internet, and some of them are pretty darn good too.
Here are some funny, but convincing ones that we found to be perfect examples of how to engage your audience with a bit of laughter.
Smarter Vote starts their video with a bit of humor and then goes right in for the kill. This is classic whiteboard animation at it’s best; short, punchy, and definitely convincing. It’s a brilliant example of a production that includes only what’s needed to relay the message, peak the viewer’s curiosity, and lead them off to their website. Well done Smart Vote.
What better way to inform customers about the risk of developing “turkey neck” than with an explainer video? We had to add this one (not because we created it), but because it’s just funny. It’s a classic whiteboard animation with just enough humor to keep you engaged. And who knows, you may even know someone that could really use this information. Gobble Gobble.
Did you Know:The average explainer video is watched on average for about 2.7 minutes, compared with 28% of website text shown to be read on average.
Most people can relate to this one because who doesn’t have at least one grumpy neighbor, right? The video is funny, yet it gets straight to the point. You know who the company is, what they do, and how their services can help you. And you even walk away with a bit of a chuckle. Its got all the ingredients for a landslide conversion. Great whiteboard explainer video.
Seriously, who would have ever thought to create a musical whiteboard explainer video of their mission statement? Well, “Weird Al” Yankovic, of yourse. This is brilliant and funny because it’s so different, and listen to how many times they repeat the word “synergy”. There’s definitely a clear message here, and the fact that it’s in the form of a whiteboard video is just a breath of fresh air.
If you’re thinking about marketing your products or services with whiteboard animations, don’t forget to inject a bit of humor here and there. The production doesn’t have to be side busting funny; you could even throw in some humor that’s only intended for certain audiences.
When you get the viewer to let their guard down and laugh a little, you unconsciously build a rapport with them, and this could be very good for conversions. Just remember to stay away from controversial topics, and don’t include any humor that some would find offensive.
